Frequently Asked Questions Aspirator Bottles

The spigot is designed for maximum convenience and reliability. A simple quarter-to-half turn of the spigot handle opens the valve completely, allowing liquid to flow. Turning it back to the original position closes the valve securely. This mechanism provides effortless one-handed operation while ensuring a completely leakproof seal when closed. The design minimizes drips and provides excellent control over flow rate.

Yes, when properly assembled and the spigot is fully closed, these bottles are completely leakproof. The spigot is precision-engineered and screwed securely to the bottle body with an integrated sealing mechanism. This ensures that no liquid escapes except when the spigot is deliberately opened, making them safe for storing valuable or hazardous solutions.

When autoclaving these aspirator bottles, it is essential to totally disengage the spigot threads by opening the spigot fully. This allows steam to enter and pressure to equalize throughout the bottle and spigot assembly, preventing deformation or damage. Autoclave at standard cycles of 121°C (250°F) at 15 psi. Always ensure the main bottle cap is loosened as well for proper steam penetration.

The spigot is designed as an integral part of the bottle assembly. While it is highly durable and built to last, if damage occurs, please contact our customer service team for assistance. We can advise on availability of replacement parts or recommend appropriate solutions based on your specific situation.

The approximate dimensions are:
2 Liter: Height: 220 mm, Diameter: 150 mm
5 Liter: Height: 280 mm, Diameter: 190 mm
10 Liter: Height: 340 mm, Diameter: 240 mm
20 Liter: Height: 420 mm, Diameter: 290 mm
These dimensions include the spigot and cap. For precise specifications, please contact our technical support team.

These aspirator bottles are suitable for storing a wide range of aqueous laboratory solutions including distilled water, buffers, culture media, saline, stains, and many dilute reagents. The FDA-compliant polypropylene ensures safety for food-contact and pharmaceutical applications. For aggressive organic solvents or strong acids, please consult our chemical resistance chart to verify compatibility.

The spigot can be cleaned by opening it fully and flushing with warm water and mild detergent. For thorough cleaning, the spigot can be removed by unscrewing it from the bottle body (note the thread direction). Clean all components separately, rinse thoroughly, and allow to dry before reassembling. For sterile applications, autoclave with the spigot open as described above.

While polypropylene maintains good properties at low temperatures, these aspirator bottles with spigot assemblies are not recommended for freezing. The spigot mechanism and the differential expansion of components during freezing could compromise the seal or damage the spigot. For frozen storage, we recommend our standard polypropylene carboys or narrow mouth bottles without spigots.
